Roar and Prophesy

Hand cut Tyvek, plastic rods

96” x 84”

This work is inspired by traditional Jewish paper cuts. Jewish art reveals universal elements in its visual representation of animals. Animals in pairs, utilizing symmetry is said to underline the balance of creation. This work is of a bull and lion, two powerful forces whose struggle creates tension. These animals represent the celestial and the ambivalent forces that tend on one hand to erupt in a surge of powerful impulses and on the other, to exercise restraint. This work is about the struggle for harmony and balance.
